Job Description

The incumbent will be responsible for performing the following tests as part of a phase III randomized controlled trial: culture, DST (1st and 2nd line), molecular testing, developing new tests, training and supervision of junior staff, compiling TB data, troubleshooting, maintain QC data and equipment maintenance and calibration records, inventory management, preparing lab for audits and implementing lab safety and biosafety policies and Infection Control Guidelines. All activities performed will be in accordance with the protocol and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).

  • Undergo training in the protocol, TB lab trial procedures, and GCP.
  • Perform primary culture isolation and DST (1st and 2nd line) following lab SOP.
  • Finalizing reports in Health Management Information System.
  • Preparing drugs for 2nd line susceptibility testing.
  • Follow all safety instruction and Biosafety and Biosecurity policies of organization. 
  • Responsible for smooth operation and maintenance of all equipment in the TB Lab.
  • Review Daily Internal QC.
  • Participate in External Quality Assurance (EQA) samples, interpretation and reporting of results.
  • Inform all abnormal results to supervisor/ consultant.
  • Follow Sample Rejection policy as prescribed in SOPs.
  • Follow policy for storage of patient samples and bacterial culture.
  • Repeat /Reject tests if required after consultation with senior staff.
  • Communicate any error/ problems in equipment/analyzer, to Biomedical Department and Service Engineers if required.
  • Manage inventory of supplies and reagents according to the needs.
  • Responsible for audit preparations and monthly audits.
  • Maintaining stock of ATCC strains.
  • Maintenance of stock of kits, consumables etc.
  • Monthly maintenance of analyzers according to Maintenance Procedures.
  • Weekly maintenance log.
  • Weekly / Monthly Indent.
