Job Description
- Perform all tasks as assigned by the Head of Department.
- Receive Basic/Additional Surgical Instrument Sets and equipment of General Surgery and Cath-lab; clean them according to departmental policies and procedures.
- Check all Basic/Additional Surgical Instrument Sets and equipment of General Surgery and Cath-lab for cleanliness, and take corrective action if re-cleaning is required after washing.
- Assemble all Basic/Additional Surgical Instrument Sets and equipment of General Surgery and Cath-lab after checking and lubrication.
- Wrap, seal, and label Basic/Additional Surgical Instrument Sets, packs, and trays of General Surgery and Cath-lab.
- Sterilize/disinfect dressings, linen, and Basic/Additional Surgical Instrument Sets of General Surgery and Cath-lab equipment as per departmental policies and procedures.
- Operate washing machines, dryers, steam sterilizers, and any other machinery used in the Central Sterile Services Department.
- Assist in performing daily tests required for sterilization/disinfection.
- Clean sterilizers, washing machines, and other machines and equipment in the Central Sterile Services Department on a daily basis.
- Check stock levels of detergents, disinfectants, glove powder, etc., and refill as necessary.
- Replenish stock of consumables in the packing area from the bulk store when required.
- Report any malfunctioning equipment/instruments to the Supervisor or Senior Charge Hand.
- Dispatch surgical packs as per refill requisitions and collect used packs from user areas.
- Perform any other task assigned by the Supervisor.
