Job Description

  • Set up and monitor ICU equipment including ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and suction machines.
  • Support advanced ICU procedures including bronchoscopy, dialysis/CRRT setup, and invasive monitoring line setup.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of ventilator circuits, monitoring cables, and infusion devices during active patient care.
  • Ensure readiness and daily checking of emergency equipment including crash carts, defibrillators, and airway carts.
  • Assist in setup and maintenance of invasive hemodynamic monitoring systems (e.g., arterial lines, CVP monitoring).
  • Maintain and check adequate oxygen, suction, and compressed air supply systems within ICU.
  • Assist doctors and nurses during procedures (intubation, central line placement, resuscitation, etc.).
  • Prepare ICU beds and equipment for new admissions.
  • Observe and report abnormal readings or alarms promptly.
  • Participate in mock drills (code blue, fire safety, disaster preparedness) and ensure equipment readiness.
  • Ensure proper functioning and calibration of life-support systems.
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and inform immediate supervisor for major faults in liaison.
  • Coordinate with biomedical engineering for preventive maintenance and urgent equipment repairs.
  • Maintain equipment logs and preventive maintenance records.
  • Support digital systems including ICU monitors Integration, basic data entry, and equipment-related documentation systems.
  • Maintain accurate technical documentation and equipment checklists.
  • Assist in preparation and management of portable equipment for intra- and inter-hospital transport of critically ill patients
  • Assist in stock verification and forecasting of ICU consumables/critical suppiles to avoid shortages: coordinate
  • replenishment with warehouse/ stores.
  • Assist in safe handling and disposal of biomedical waste related to ICU equipment and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support infection control practices specific to ICU equipment, including disinfection of high-touch devices
  • Maintain professional conduct, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
  • Perform any other task assigned by the immediate supervisor that is commensurate with your knowledge and skills.
