Core Responsibilities
Clinical Case Management
The primary duty involves managing the care of children with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) at OTP sites. This includes:
- Enrollment and Assessment: Screening, admitting, and following up on children according to CMAM admission and discharge criteria.
- Clinical Care: Ensuring correct clinical diagnosis, identifying complications, and referring severe cases to stabilization centers (NSC).
- Treatment Administration: Supervising the administration of therapeutic foods (like RUTF), deworming, and micronutrient supplements (MNP, IFA/Vitamin A).
Program Planning and Supply Management
The Nutrition Assistant is involved in the logistical and planning aspects of the program:
- Coordination: Planning OTP/CMAM activities in liaison with health facility staff (MO/FMO/LHV).x
- Stock Management: Ensuring the adequate availability of medical and therapeutic food supplies and tracking their consumption.
- Reporting: Compiling statistical data on admissions, defaulters, and cure rates to submit timely program reports.
Community Engagement and Coordination
This position works closely with the community and other sectors:
- Community Linkages: Working with community health workers (LHWs/CHWs) to ensure correct community screening and referrals and follow up tracing.
- Health Education: Providing key health and nutrition education messages to beneficiaries and their caretakers.
- Coordination: Establishing strong networks with stakeholders, including the Department of Health (DOH) and other NGOs, to integrate CMAM with other health services.
