Job Description
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of hospital infrastructure, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Develop and implement maintenance strategies to ensure optimal functionality and reliability of hospital facilities and equipment.
- Lead the maintenance and engineering team, ensuring they are properly trained, resourced, and supervised.
- Manage emergency repair and preventive maintenance schedules to avoid equipment downtime and service interruptions.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies, including Joint Commission standards, OSHA regulations, and local building codes.
- Plan and oversee hospital infrastructure improvement projects, such as facility renovations, expansions, and upgrades.
- Work closely with hospital leadership to forecast and manage budgets for maintenance operations and capital improvement projects.
- Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized services and oversee the quality and timeliness of their work.
- Conduct regular inspections of hospital facilities and equipment to identify areas for improvement or repair.
- Implement energy management programs to optimize utility consumption and reduce operational costs.
- Ensure that medical equipment, building systems, and critical infrastructure are regularly maintained and serviced in accordance with manufacturer recommendations.
- Prepare and submit reports on maintenance activities, facility performance, and long-term capital needs.
- Manage the procurement of maintenance supplies, spare parts, and equipment, ensuring cost-effectiveness and timely availability.
- Respond to emergency situations, such as power outages, equipment failures, or building system malfunctions, ensuring minimal disruption to hospital operations.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance work, equipment warranties, and regulatory compliance documentation.
- Foster a safety culture within the maintenance and engineering team, providing training on proper procedures and safety protocols.
- Ensure hospital facilities are aesthetically maintained and conducive to patient care, staff productivity, and visitor comfort.
- Collaborate with infection control and other clinical departments to ensure that maintenance activities do not compromise patient safety or care standards.
