Job Description

  • Ensure personal hygiene and dress code of self and all the staff members working is properly followed.
  • Assure quality of care by ensuring therapeutic standards are adhered to; measure health outcomes against patient care goals and standards recommending adjustments when required.
  • Resolve patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
  • Ensure general cleanliness of the ward and sanitary annexure; coordinate functioning of the House Keeping staff, provide them with guidance and report accordingly.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Conduct orientations and mentor new nursing staff regarding working in accordance of hospital policies, protocols and SOPs.
  • Identifies and highlights training needs of the existing and new staff members to Supervisor.
  • The Shift In-charge will ensure all documents, patient information, equipment and supplies are correctly handed over and protocols are followed during change of shifts.
  • Cover for the Ward Incharge/Team Lead in carrying out duties and acts as Ward Incharge in case of absence / leaves.
  • Responsibility of the entire nursing care activities in the assigned Unit during their duty hours, and to ensure the personal hygiene and comfort of the patients. Also Provides direct patient care to patients   admitted in their ward(as needed).
  • Participate in rounds with the Manager - Nursing, Residents and Consultants in their shifts; ensure all orders are noted and carried out.
  • Continuously observe the patient’s progress in their respective wards and report changes to RMOs.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and documentation of vital signs (i.e. TPR, BP), medication administration, intake and output, etc in patient records.
  • Ensure the administration of medications is carried out according to standing instructions.
  • Supervise preparation of patients for operative procedures; ensure patients are sent to Operation Theater with all necessary documentation and medication.
  • Assist residents/consultants in various medical and surgical procedures, make required preparations.
  • Carry out the admission and discharge procedures of patients and maintain records accordingly.
  • Ensure the collection and sending of specimens to laboratory for testing.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the management.
