Job Description

TASKS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Monitor and support daily operations in O.T. and CSSD.
  • Coordinate with hospital units to standardize OT and CSSD practices and procedures across the network.
  • Conduct regular visits and audits to ensure compliance with set protocols and SOPs.
  • Facilitate communication between O.T./CSSD teams and hospital management for smooth service delivery.
  • Ensure all O.T. and CSSD staff follow infection control guidelines, safety regulations, and sterilization standards.
  • Assist in the development, dissemination, and implementation of updated SOPs, policies, and protocols.
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to national and international healthcare standards (e.g., WHO, JCIA) related to surgical and sterile services.
  • Identify training needs and coordinate continuous professional development programs for O.T. and CSSD staff.
  • Facilitate workshops, drills, and on-site training in areas such as surgical instrument handling, aseptic techniques, and the sterilization process.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of sterilization processes and O.T. readiness.
  • Investigate incidents or breaches in sterilization or infection control and support corrective/preventive actions.
  • Implement KPIs and quality monitoring tools to evaluate department performance.
  • Coordinate with supply chain and biomedical departments to ensure the timely availability of sterilized instruments, consumables, and functioning equipment.
  • Support the forecasting, requisition, and allocation of CSSD/O.T. supplies across hospitals.
  • Review utilization and wastage reports to optimize resource use.
  • Maintain centralized documentation for all CSSD/O.T. processes across the network.
  • Prepare and submit operational reports, audit summaries, and performance dashboards to senior management.
  • Ensure proper record-keeping of sterilization cycles, instrument logs, and training records.
  • Act as the key liaison between head office and site-level CSSD/O.T. teams for operational directives and feedback.
  • Collaborate with clinical, nursing, supply chain, and infection control departments to ensure smooth interdepartmental workflows.
