Job Description

  • Ensures patient safety at all time by keeping side rails up and beds locked
  • Ensures ID band is applied on all patients
  • Prevention from nosocomial infection by frequent hand washing and following infection control policies. Assures isolation
  • principles are understood and carried out timely.
  • Provide sale care and prevent patient from injury, fall etc.
  • Adheres to standard of safety and infection control in delivery of patient care.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly patient unit/environment for each patient.
  • Perform bed making for new patients, as soon as patient discharged or linen gets soiled.
  • Provides orientation to the unit's surrounding and environment to all the newly admitted patients
  • Ensures height and weight of all newly admitted patients
  • Collects and records information pertinent to the patient's status, measures and records vital signs of stable patients, performs simple neuro checks.
  • Obtains a wide range of information from physicians, caregivers and nurses about patient condition, treatment plans, and suggested activities
  • Performs patient's blood sugar test with glucometer (following certification), records on patient's file and reports findings to supervisor.
  • Provides hygiene care to assigned patients, according to unit protocols, e.g., bath, back care, nail care, mouth care, hair care and
  • perineal care, shaving for male patients in order to facilitate patient's cleanliness and comfort.
  • Assists patients in food and fluid intakes if required
  • Empties and measures urinary bags as directed by RN/ RM/LPN/assigned staff, notifies any significant changes in output to thenurse and physicians
  • Measuring and recording food and liquid intake and urinary and fecal output and reporting changes to medical or nursing staff with timely documentation
  • Changes position as per routine protocol.
  • Assists patients with passive range of motion exercises or postural drainage as instructed by the RN/RM/LPN/assigned staff.
  • Assist in safe transfer of patients to and from bed to chair and wheelchair.
  • Helps in shifting of patient to OR, Radiology and any other department.
  • Assists RN, RM, LPN, Tech CCT's and physicians with procedures as required.
  • Discontinue patient IV cannula, if ordered
  • Prepares CVP/Lumbar puncture/Pacing and Intubation trolleys stocking with required supplies, instruments, and equipment's.
  • Clean incubators (as applicable) and warmers daily
  • Prepares Incubator (as applicable) and operates equipment according to procedure.
  • Checks and maintains equipment in working order by checking it periodically and reports to the assigned nurse/TL/HN for rectifying faults.
  • Maintains confidentiality in relation to all patients and health care staff
  • Communicate unusual event/ observe suspicious act/incidents related to job functions to available shift Incharge /HN/AHN, immediately.
  • Maintains good working relationships with peers and health team by being helpful and supportive all the time
  • Any other related task as assigned by the In-charge nurse or delegate
