Job Description
- Evaluation of patients with symptoms like peripheral arterial disease (PAD), varicose veins, and chronic venous insufficiency, Angio access for dialysis, aortic disease, cerebrovascular disease vascular malformations and elective vascular surgery patients.
Non-invasive diagnostic services (if available, like Doppler ultrasound, ankle-brachial index (ABI), and duplex ultrasound) for: - Assessing blood flow.
- Detecting conditions like deep vein thrombosis (DVT), carotid artery disease, and venous insufficiency.
- Diagnosing aneurysms, especially abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA).
- Duplex for AVF.
Vascular Malformation
2. Planned Surgeries and Procedures
- Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) Management:
- Angioplasty or stenting for leg artery narrowing (scheduled procedures).
- Surgical bypass for critical limb ischemia.
Varicose Vein Treatments: - Sclerotherapy, laser therapy, or radiofrequency ablation for varicose veins.
- Phlebectomy or stripping for larger varicose veins.
- (subject to availability of inventory)
Arterial Aneurysm Repairs: Procedures of atherosclerotic carotid artery disease: - Elective surgery for symptomatic or asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis (narrowing of the carotid arteries).
3. Post-operative Care
Monitoring for Complications:
- Early detection of surgical complications like infections, bleeding, graft failure, or restenosis (re-narrowing of arteries).
4. Support of other surgical departments during surgery.
5. Non-urgent Diagnostic Investigations
- Pre-surgical Investigations:
- Blood work, imaging studies (e.g., CT angiogram, MR angiography) before planned surgeries. Duplex ultrasound.
Screening for Aneurysms: Screening for abdominal aortic aneurysms in patients with relevant risk factors.
