Job Description: Specialist – Telehealth Program

Position Overview:

The Specialist Telehealth Program at CHD, IHHN plays a central role in delivering high-quality, equitable and free-of-cost virtual healthcare services and online consultations to patients in remote and underserved regions of Pakistan. Using IHHN’s innovative Hub-and-Spoke Telehealth Model the Specialist provides supervision and support to clinical team in telehealth consultations to the patients. This role supports IHHN’s mission to transform healthcare access through innovation with a strong focus on primary healthcare, maternal and child health, digital diagnostics, team leadership and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Care and Service Delivery:

· Conduct virtual consultations for patients located at remote Telehealth Spoke Centers..

· Support the clinical team in providing quality online consultations including history taking, diagnosis and management.

· Review the clinical decisions, prescribed medications, order investigations and follow-ups to improve the quality of care.

· Collaborate with on-site nurses, midwives and allied staff to ensure comprehensive and patient-centered care.

· Guide the doctors and nursing staff on the assessments and enhance the utilization of digital diagnostic equipment.

Patient Management and Continuity of Care:

· Maintain ongoing care relationships with patients through scheduled virtual follow-ups.

· Support the clinical team in treatment adherence, identifying complications and making safe referral decisions when required.

· Assist the clinical team in improving online consultation efficiency and meeting patient consultation targets.

· Contribute to achieving high patient return rates, ensuring continuity and quality of care.

· Work with multidisciplinary teams to improve the quality of care and disease outcomes.

· Participate in evaluations measuring including consultation effectiveness, clinical accuracy and outcomes from tele-supervised procedures

· Contribute to SOP and protocol development of Telehealth Program.

Team Leadership & Capacity Building:

· Lead and manage a team of teleclinic doctors, providing oversight, performance feedback and regular case-based learning sessions including CMEs.

· Enhance the team’s clinical capabilities in history-taking, diagnosis, patient communication and management planning via ongoing mentorship and feedback loops.

· Engage with Spoke site nursing staff and midwives to strengthen their role in virtual consultations.

· Foster a culture of collaborative care and accountability, ensuring the team maintains IHHN’s clinical excellence standards.

Digital Health Innovation:

· Use and optimize IHHN’s HMIS 2.0, Queue Management System (QMS), and digital diagnostic devices.

· Contribute feedback to improve digital tools and virtual care workflows.

· Support adoption of new telehealth technologies and tools across clinical teams.

Academic Engagement:

· Conduct CME programs, case presentations and journal clubs, particularly focused on Telehealth service delivery.

· Train medical and paramedical staff in remote communication, digital diagnostics and clinical standards.
