Job Description

  • Report in time on duty as per schedule shift and confirm assign areas Unit in charge or Supervisor, Nursing.
  • Check all the unit inventory and mark in checklist & report deficiency/breakage/nonfunctioning to Staff Nurse & Supervisor, Nursing.
  • Take shift handover bed to bed from incoming shift of the unit, related to patients, files, medication, Investigation reports, intake & output chart etc. and pending tasks carry forward by outgoing shift to incoming shift & reasoning.
  • Document take over in HMIS and any significant concern to follow urgently.
  • Evaluate each patient for their concern and required supplies, medication, labs, food and arrange at first hand.
  • Provide direct patient care throughout the shift in a calm, considerate manner.
  • Provide quality care by adhering with IHHN policies & procedure, evaluate patient health outcomes against given care, medication etc.
  • Resolve patient health problems by involving multi-disciplinary team.
  • Prepare medication requisitions, forward to pharmacy for dispensing and follow until its dispensed on desired destination and on receiving check against requisition and administrate following rights of safe drug administration.
  • Maintain & ensure safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protect patients/ families and employees by adhering to infection-control policies, during medication administration and storage of multidose, including controlled substance regulations.
  • Maintain privacy & confidentiality of patient throughout hospital stay, In particular during examination/procedures, hygiene care and transportation.
  • Accompany physicians' during rounds in the unit and note order given during round & request doctor to write order in HMIS about any change in patient care management including medication.
  • Assist doctors with any procedure they may need to perform in the procedure room & prepares patient physically and emotionally for procedures and ensures the availability of all necessary equipment.
  • Ensure that Unit medical/surgical supplies requirements, sufficient stock, properly stored and readily available.
  • Follow doctor pre-op order & ensure (consent signed, NPO, site preparation, pre-op bath, change of OR dress,
  • arrangement of blood and Maintain I/O, pre-op medication, check & record fresh vital signs) and transfer walking patient on wheel chair.
  • Report incident/issues related to patients, staff, visitors, equipment loss/breakage of dysfunction in a timely manner in collaboration with senior.
  • Follow Post-op order, last vital signs reading from OR, check surgery site dressing for bleeding, Cyanosis, I/V site, surgical drain/any drain, maintain I/O, and be watchful for change in vital signs/bleeding at surgery site.
