Job Description
A. ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT
- Monitor operational oversight of patient care service across designated campus.
- Evaluate workload and staffing of each area to meet patient care needs and staff satisfaction on regular bases and share difficulties beyond to nursing in Campus meetings and with Campus management.
- Direct & coordinate clinical activities at designated campus, to ensure safe patient care consistent with IHHN policies, procedure and flow processes.
- Monitor the level of resources utilized in each service delivery and determine the effective use of each. resource.
- Make sure nursing documentation as IPD admission on paper & HMIS (Vital signs, height & weight monitoring & documentation, Initial nursing assessments completion within 24 hrs., Fall Care plan with patient and family education, cluster care plan and admission note.
- Ensure continuous monitoring of shifts handover, transfer in transfer out handover, medication administration record, events note and discharge note).
- Encourage best possible patients care and patients' attendant/family facilitation across the campus through effective communication.
- Take lead in staff & patients problem solving, feedback, active listening, and support the team members for conflict resolution.
- Conduct weekly/monthly staff meeting to listen their concern
- Make regular brief clinical rounds contact with nursing staff, maintain detailed knowledge of each unit's status including patient acuity, staff coordination, progress evaluation toward meeting unit objectives in terms of patient care activities.
- resourceful utilization of personnel, space & facilities;
- Review duty rosters for ensuring rational distribution & delegation of patients' workload/assignments, and
- Ensure overall units performance through area in charges about (requisitions, consumption, return of un used items within shift, maintenance of unit inventory (equipment, supplies & other patient care items).
- Be aware of interdepartmental activities by participating in different meeting.
- Develop, Implement and monitor an internal audits mechanism to assess the compliance with the policies SOPs infection control protocols & take corrective preventive action with the emphasis on safe patient care.
B. QUALITY ASSURANCE PERSPECTIVE
- Review and interpret IHHN (nursing & organizational policies & procedures) & set clinical KPI accordingly.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned tasks by the immediate supervisor/Head of Department (Audits, nursing indicators monitoring) monthly and quarterly and sharing of report by 15th of next month.
- Encourage quality improvement reporting (incidents/Accidents & near mises), investigation of complaints /incidents within define time and shared with QMD.
- Develop & implement strategy to collection data on regular bases (review of last 24 hrs. admissions/discharges for documentation & monitoring (HMIS/paper form) areas wise for (nursing Indicators, CQI & PHC).
- Ensure timely closer with the implementation of corrective preventive action & their sustainability.
- Daily review of last 24hrs report for the accuracy of information and share with all concern.
- Make sure nursing areas preparation for internal & external audits (Nursing, QIPS, Pharmacy & PHC etc.).
- Collaborate in the development, implementation and expansion of learning opportunities received through incident/complaints and use in skills development of staff.
- Ensure finalization of timely duty roster a week earlier of schedule month, enter in HMIS, display on the notice
- board for the early view of staff and keep a signed copy for each category (HN/AHN/ NSS) for daily review. KPI in regard with safe practices.
C. RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
- Plan fiscal budget (Workforce & Material) in consideration with the level of care required' of each specialty of medical service with justified reasoning in collaboration with the Campus Hierarchy,
- Ensure timely probationary confirmation with formal meeting and constructive feedback
- Ensure various staffs concern eg. clinical placement, attendance/ punctuality concern, counselling, conduction of formal discipline and formal sharing with HR.
- Collaborate with Human Resources department in regard (budgeted staff hiring, reporting, training & development needs, counselling, performance appraisal, promotions and closure of service as need arise.
- Review biannual individual in person objective of staff to discuss areas of improvement with anecdotal
- Evaluate senior nursing layer performance in consideration of clinical management and administrative role.
- Record summative & formative performance evidences to avoid disagreement at the time of appraisal evaluation.
- Review annual performance with each staff in person against objective, share strengths & areas of improvement.
- Demonstrate fair judgement while concluding performance appraisal before sharing with reviewer.
- Communicate timely resignation/absenteeism/nonprofessional behavior of staff to HRD.
D. STAFF TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
- Develop staff training & development plan of each category and implement aligned with HR Department.
- Organize exclusive education & training session for all level nursing staff in accordance with the clinical practices challenges.
- Ensure competencies compliance of probationary and renewal of experienced staff competencies.
- Make sure that new joiners orientation objective is discussed on the day/s of joining, and a CNI /clinical mentor is assigned to facilitate new joiner staff during probationary period.
- Ensure smooth running of department orientation of new joiner, their clinical placement with new joiner orientation checklist, discuss monthly progress of objective with individual staff, indicating areas of improvement and keep record.
- Ensure personnel growth, renewal of competencies & certifications of each category staff.
- Collaborate in the development, implementation and expansion of learning opportunities received through incident/complaints and use in skills development of staff.
