Job Description

·         Coordinate with Pharmacists and Technicians to ensure adequate maintenance of Pharmacy inventory and adherence to protocols during shift changes under Shift In-Charge Pharmacist supervision. Maintain all records and documentation.

·         Under Pharmacist supervision, accurately fill patient requisitions per issued prescriptions and patient drug profiles.

·         Ensure medications are packaged, labelled, and delivered promptly to end users/nursing stations.

·         Maintain, monitor, and replenish inventory stock, prepare requisitions for required items.

·         When assigned to Cath Lab/Radiology: Maintain consignment item records.

·         Document consumption of procedural items by obtaining countersigned hard copies of utilization forms.

·         When assigned to Sterile Compounding Area:

·         Accurately fill prescriptions, restock IV area supplies shift wise, and maintain IVPB inventory.

·         Compound sterile parenteral admixtures, TPN, and chemotherapy agents (including reconstitution calculations, and labelling) per policy.

·         Assist Pharmacists in selecting, filling, assembling, preparing, packaging, and labelling medications.

·         Safely handle, compound, and ensure timely medication distribution to patient care areas

·         Perform sterile compounding using aseptic technique to established standards.

·         Ensure shift-wise/daily/monthly compliance with USP <797> & <800> (garbing, PPE, sterile area/LAF/BSC cleaning).

·         Obtain Pharmacist verification before releasing admixtures.

·         Maintain temperature/humidity logs, cleaning logs, and related documentation

·         Operate, monitor, clean, and maintain equipment per standards or manufacturer guidelines

·         Perforin routine QA checks (equipment validation/calibration, expiration audits, storage inspections)

·         Assist Pharmacists with operational support, including housekeeping coordination and proper/timely sterile waste disposal

·         Train new staff and participate in performance improvement initiatives

·         When operating Biological Safety Cabinets (BSC):

·         Operate and maintain specialized equipment (e.g. BSC)

·         Assist Pharmacists with IV chemotherapy preparation/handling, inventory management, hazardous waste, and recordkeeping

·         Verify patient information prior to chemotherapy preparation.

·         Calculate dosages, volumes, and fluids for antineoplastic agents/hydration solutions

·         Prepare cytotoxic agents using aseptic/protective procedures per institutional policy.

·         Ensure hazardous waste disposal regulatory compliance.

·         Obtain independent double-check (by another Technician) for product integrity, preparation, and labelling

·         Ensure shift wise/daily/monthly compliance with USP <800> (garbing, PPE, sterile area/BSC cleaning)

·         Prepare/submit departmental requisitions to warehouse

·         Receive warehouse goods, verify batch, expiry, quantity, packaging, cold chain integrity (if applicable), and shelve stock in temperature-controlled locations

·         implement FEFO stock rotation and ensure proper storage policy adherence 

·         Ensure appropriate storage of light-sensitive drugs, chemotherapy agents, high-alert medications, and lock alike/sound-alike drugs

·         Maintain all pharmacy related documentation

·         Maintain comprehensive inventory records (e.g, fast/slow moving, short dated/expired/damaged items)

·         Coordinate with Housekeeping/Maintenance to ensure compliance with temperature, lighting, and cleanliness standards

·         Assist Pharmacists in conducting regular stock audits

·         Complete Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and stock cover documentation shift-wise

·         Outpatient Department (OPD) Pharmacy: To follow the Pharmacist's instruction and SOPs/Protocols of Out Parietin Pharmacy for medication, issuances, dispensing, labelling, Patient Counselling and to record all documentations.

·         Emergency Room (ER) Pharmacy: The task assigned by ER Pharmacist, Assistant Manager, Deputy Manager, Pharmacy, and to follow the ER Pharmacy SOPs in Inventory management, Medication and Medical devices issuances, dispensing, labelling and to record all documentations.

·         Inpatient Pharmacy/Satellite Pharmacy. The task assigned by the Pharmacist, and to follow the in-Patient Pharmacy, SOPs in Inventory management, Medication and Medical devices issuances, dispensing, labelling and to record all documentations

·         Operating Theatre (OT) Pharmacy: The task assigned by OT Pharmacist, Assistant Manager, Deputy Manager and to follow the OT Pharmacy SOPs in Inventory management, Medication and Medical devices issuances, dispensing, labelling and to record all documentations. To ensure adherence to all SOPs and protocols related to preparing supply baskets according to requested surgeries and clearing postings on HMIS of all manually issued suppliers requested during urgent procedures for urgent need
