A. PATIENT CARE
· Propose a diagnosis based on history, examination, laboratory and imaging data.
· Counsel the patients and their families and obtain informed consent for any invasive diagnostic procedure.
· Ensure that teams deliver patientcare according to the agreed plan
· Perform procedures within limits of credentialing granted by the IHHN
· Communicate effectively with patients and their families
· Ensure confidentiality and privacy of the patients
· Advise clinical colleagues regarding appropriate laboratory resource utilization
· Remain conversant with latest laboratory techniques regarding national and international guidelines in clinical laboratory practices.
· Ensures the respect for dignity; cultural, religious and social sensitivities of the patients
B. CLINICAL GOVERNANCE
· Ensures efficient and reliable service delivery.
· Conduct clinical audits and implement the solutions for improvement based on the gained from audits
· Implement & monitor the quality control, quality assurance protocols, and record-keeping procedures which constitute good laboratory practice, and which comply with regulations imposed by regulatory bodies such as ICIA or CAP, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) 150-15189 & Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC)
C. TEACHING AND TRAINING
· Lead and participates in the training activities for capacity building of the workforce.
· Contribute to the developing and implementing a structured training program.
· Guide and facilitate the colleagues in seeking knowledge and skills
· Perform workplace-based assessment and provides feedback to trainees.
· Lead and participate in research initiatives
D. PROFESSIONAL LEADERSHIP
· Lead and delegate tasks to other team members and provides required support to accomplish them
· Ensure the allocation of appropriate time, space and workforce for all patient care processes and procedures
· Ensure efficient utilization of resources and minimize all wastage
· Prepare and implement SOP's related to laboratory practices
· Prepare clinical lab for the national and international accreditations.
· Make appropriate root cause analysis and take effective corrective & preventive actions in case of any audit
· Findings, QC failures or non-conformance raised by any regulatory body
· Close liaise with peers at the network level and must engage in Task Force activity/les.
· Take a part in peer review for service and design innovative strategies that enhance quality improvement and overall patient experience
· Assign tasks to the team and monitor performance and engage with other teams to facilitate high quality care
· Ensure professional and ethical discipline in the department.
· Serve as a role model for professional behaviour
· Build a reliable, qualified trained and professional team in laboratory by hiring suitable personnel and unbiased appraisals
· Identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, implement new technologies, and enhance best practices within the lab
· Supervises subordinates includes performance assessment in relation to clinical/practical competence skill assessments and adherence to departmental protocols, timely and accurate documentation, communication with patients, relatives, and peers, other staff and doctors in the community
E PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
· Regularly participate in CM activities
· Performs the axed role in clinical committees of the hospital
· Engage CME CPD activities to maintain and enhance the professional competence
· Acquire extensive knowledge of advanced laboratory theory, techniques, and testing related to Laboratory Medicine Transfusion Services
· Participate and move in relevant professional bodies and share working experience with others
F. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform any other task assigned by the administrative/ functional Head and/or by the Medical Director that is commensurate with your knowledge and skills.
