Job Description

  • Oversee the daily cleaning of all areas of the hospital, including patient areas, hallways, waiting areas, restrooms, and offices. 
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate housekeeping staff. This includes scheduling, performance management, and ensuring staff adhere to safety and hygiene protocols. 
  • Implement and enforce infection control practices to prevent the spread of infections, use of personal protective equipment (PPEs), and adherence to IHHN infection Control protocols and precautions.
  •  Manage the disposal of medical and general waste according to established guidelines and regulations.
  •  Monitor and manage housekeeping supplies, ensuring adequate stock levels and efficient use of resources.
  •  Oversee the collection, washing, drying, and folding of hospital linens and other textiles.
  •  Maintain accurate records of cleaning activities, supply usage, and any incidents or issues. 
  • Collaborate with nursing staff, facilities management, and other departments to ensure the smooth operation of housekeeping services and address any concerns or requests. 
  • Manage the housekeeping budget, controlling expenses and ensuring efficient use of resources. 
  • Assist in emergency situations, such as spills or accidents, by promptly cleaning and disinfecting affected areas. 
  • Coordinates work activities among departments and attend meetings. 
  • Assign and supervise tasks of supervisors / officers and staff of the Housekeeping & Laundry Department. 
  • Develop and maintain monthly schedules and roster; ensure smooth execution with timely and proper rotation of porter and cleaners in all the areas. 
  • Monitor KPIs on a monthly basis; ensure quality services are provided by the department. 
  • Develop cleaning schedules and protocols for all hospital areas. 
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, government regulations, and PHC/JCIA standards. 
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure quality and infection control standards. 
  • Respond to housekeeping-related complaints or issues promptly. 
  • Maintain horticultural nursery for seasonal and upcoming plants and flowers. 
  • Perform any other task assigned by the Head of Department and/or by the Management.
