Job Description

  • Perform pre-selection donor counseling and history
  • Perform physical examination of blood donor including: pulse, blood pressure, hemoglobin by portable haemoglobinometer. e.g., HemoCue, temperature and weight.
  • Obtain consent from donors and assign donor identification numbers.
  • Select venipuncture sites and perform phlebotomy procedures, collect and process blood samples as per SOPs.
  • Dispatch blood bags from in-house/collection points and blood drive sites to the blood center utilizing transport containers.
  • Ensure correct patient identification and samples accurately labeled and dispatch for testing.
  • Provide post-donation care to donors and manage adverse reactions, as necessary.
  • Perform offline and paper backup donor registration to draw and dispatch.
  • Upload, export, and import BBMIS offline data from tablet/smartphone to live server.
  • Perform daily quality control and maintenance of the haemoglobinometer.
  • Perform calibration verification and maintenance of bio mixer.
  • Record and maintain records of daily temperature and cleaning log sheets.
  • Maintain accurate records of donor information and collection procedures in the Blood Center Management Information System (BBMIS).
  • Perform washing and cleaning of all blood drive equipment, as well as loading and unloading of equipment from the blood Center to blood drives. This includes tasks such as cleaning couches, draw carts, history bags, and other related equipment.
  • Responsible for achieving assigned productivity targets, ensure compliance with safety & regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain day-to-day inventory of phlebotomy stock; enter stock consumption in Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) and prepare daily stock consumption reports.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies and procedures and actively participate in accreditation activities.
  • Perform blood donor selection and draw, post-donation care to donors and managing adverse reactions.
  • Monitor, maintain, and replenish phlebotomy supplies to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
