Experience
• Previous experience in FGD and KII • Experience using digital data collection tools (KOBO, Google Docs) preferred. • Understanding of data quality principles such as completeness and accuracy. • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. • Ability to work in rural and remote field locations.
Education
• Bachelor’s/master’s degree in public health, Social Sciences, Allied Health Sciences, Development Studies, Statistics, or related field.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in training on qualitative research methods, note-taking techniques, and tools
- Review FGD/KII guides, probing techniques, and thematic areas
- Understand study objectives, MNCH context, and local socio-cultural dynamics
- Take detailed, structured notes during FGDs and KIIs in real time
- Accurately capture:
o Key responses and narratives
o Quotes (verbatim where possible)
o Group dynamics (agreement/disagreement, dominant voices)
o Non-verbal cues (silence, hesitation, emotional reactions)
- Support the Qualitative Facilitator/Moderator in managing sessions
- Ensure audio recordings are properly captured (if applicable)
- Track participant profiles and session metadata (date, location, group type, participants)
· Maintain neutrality and avoid influencing discussions
- Expand field notes immediately after each session into clean, structured transcripts/expanded notes
- Cross-check notes with audio recordings for accuracy and completeness
- Submit daily notes and summaries to the qualitative lead
