Job Description

PATIENT CARE

Provide high-standard clinical care and expertise in the assessment, investigation, diagnosis, and treatment of emergency conditions.

Propose a diagnosis based on history, examination, laboratory and imaging data.

Recommend evidence-based treatments to the patients.

Manage and stabilize critical patients, including performing emergency procedures like wound dressing, splinting, and resuscitation.

Prescribe appropriate medications and therapies, and monitor patient progress, re-evaluating as needed.

Counsel the patients and their families and obtain informed consent for their treatment. Ensure that the teams deliver patientcare according to the agreed plan.

Monitor the patients' progress and modify the treatments as their conditions evolve.

 Perform procedures within the limits of credentialing granted by the IHHN.

Communicate effectively with patients and their families.

Ensure confidentiality and privacy of the patients.

Ensures the respect for dignity; cultural, religious and social sensitivities of the patients under the care.

 

PROFESSIONAL LEADERSHIP

  • Effectively lead clinical teams under supervision.
  • Delegate tasks to other team members and provides required support to accomplish them.
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
  • Ensure the allocation of appropriate time, space and manpower for all patient care processes and procedures.
  • Close liaise with peers at the network level and must engage in Task Force activity/ies.
  • Take a part in peer review for service and design innovative strategies that enhance quality improvement and
  • overall patient experience.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of resources and minimize all wastage.
  • Assign tasks to the team members and monitor their performance.
  • Engage with other teams to facilitate high-quality care.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the emergency department.

TEACHING AND TRAINING

  • Lead and participates in the training activities for capacity building of the workforce.
  • Contribute to the developing and implementing a structured residency program.
  • Guide and facilitate the colleagues in seeking knowledge and skills.
  • Provide and receive ongoing training to maintain essential certifications (e.g., BLS, ACLS, ATLS).
  • Perform workplace-based assessment and provides feedback to trainees.
  • Lead and participate in research initiatives.

QUALITY OF CARE AND PATIENT SAFETY

  • Ensure all patient care is delivered in compliance with the standards of care set by IHHN, and provincial and
  • national regulatory authorities.
  • Ensure the quality and safety of all patient care interventions.
  • Conduct clinical audits and implement the solutions for improvement.
  • Contribute to emergency preparedness by participating in major incident planning and responses.
  • Performs the assigned role in clinical committees of the hospital.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Participate in CME and in continuing professional development activities.
  • Participate and involve in relevant professional bodies and share working experience with others.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform any other task assigned by the Head of Department/Medical Director that is commensurate with your knowledge and skills
