Job Description

  1. Prepare components from whole blood
  • Modified or divided products & Prepare work list for component preparation.
  1. Create batches for processing of samples.
  2. Proceed samples on routine as well as emergency module
  3. Perform daily Maintenance of equipments.
  4. Retain samples properly as per departmental policy.
  5. Perform visual inspection and unit verification of blood products.
  6. Perform quarterly alarm check testing of storage equipment
  • Blood bank refrigerator
  • Platelet agitator
  • Blood bank freezers
  1. Perform basic serology skills
  • Blood group ABO and Rh
  • Weak D testing
  • DAT
  • Cross match by tube method & Gel card
  1. Perform intermediary serology skills
  • Allow antibody screening
  • Antibody identification
  • Phenotyping
  • Resolution of ABO discrepancies
  • Pre warm technique
  • Saline replacement technique
  • Techniques for enhancement of cold antibodies
  1. Be able to handle emergency release.
  2. Be able to perform the post transfusion reaction workup and forward it to the pathologist for review.
  3. Respond to phone calls in proper manner while communicating with the hospital staff and other service partner.
  4. Maintain highest level of professional and ethical behavior at work.

Any other task assigned by the supervisor/ line manager/ head of the department / project lead.
