Job Description

  • Oversee day to-day operations of all clinical laboratory sections (Haematology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Histopathology etc.).
  • Ensure uninterrupted laboratory services with optimal turnaround times (TAT).
  • Manage Clinical laboratory instrumentation for its optimum operational requirements and necessary calibrations and preventive maintenance determining the feasibility Of installing new equipment's as and when required.
  • Develops, establish and maintain policies and procedures; ensure compliance with national and international standards (e.g., ISO 15189, CAP, PNAC, PHCC, IHHN policies).
  • Monitor workload, staffing levels, and resource utilization; Recruit, train supervise and evaluate laboratory staff.
  • Investigate non-conformities, errors, and incidents; implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Maintain quality indicators and Continuous improvement programs.
  • Ensure accuracy, reliability, and confidentiality Of laboratory results.
  • Collaborate with clinicians to optimize test utilization and interpretation.
  • Ensure biosafety, infection control, and waste management protocols are followed,
  • Orientation, training and conduct of competencies of newly appointed laboratory personnel.
  • Develop staff competency, continuing Education and performance improvement plans.
  • Prepare duty rosters and ensure adequate coverage across shifts.
  • Oversee procurement, Validation, Calibration and maintenance of Laboratory equipment
  • Ensure availability of reagents, consumables, and supplies while controlling costs.
  • Liaise with vendors for service contracts and troubleshooting.
  • Prepare and manage laboratory budgets, input including Opex and Capex; monitor costs, and productivity metrics.
  • Support finance billing accuracy, test pricing, and cost-containment initiatives.
  • Coordinate with hospital departments, external labs, and regulatory bodies.
  • Supervise Inventory process include LC, loan, local demand, audits etc.
  • Establish and maintain appropriates records and statistics, monitor KPIs and make measures to improve the KPIs.
  • Supervises Quality Control and Proficiency Testing programs to meet standard & coordinate with QMD staff to improve the quality matters.
  • Data Maintenance (monthly data, monthly process performance report, yearly data etc.) and report to Head of Department.
  • Perform any other task assigned by the Head of Department that is commensurate with your knowledge and skills.
