Job Description:
The role is to promptly respond to equipment Breakdown maintenance (BDM) work requests as per the policy and department standard, so that equipment can be utilized to its optimum efficiency. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and a proactive approach to ensure equipment reliability, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with hospital standards and healthcare regulations.
This Job is focused on delivering high-quality service to maintain the hospital’s standards at an exceptional level, continually evolving to meet the changing demands of healthcare. It involves developing and improving working practices, providing a comprehensive biomedical engineering service, and introducing innovative ideas, methods, policies, protocols, and procedures across the hospital.
Key Responsibilities:
· Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance of medical equipment to ensure optimal performance.
· Review and verify maintenance documentation and calibration certificates.
· Evaluate equipment performance trends and recommend repair and replacement.
· Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, and service providers for equipment repairs.
· Participate in technical evaluation of new equipment and vendor selection.
· Prepare technical specifications and contribute to tendering and procurement processes.
· Collaborate with hospital departments during expansions or the commissioning of new units.
· Coordinate with clinical and technical departments to address operational concerns effectively.
· Ensure compliance with regulatory standards related to laboratory equipment safety and operation.
· Can effectively communicate through reports and email when required.
· Performed related tasks and jobs assigned by superiors.
· Maintain accurate service records, calibration logs, and asset histories in the CMMS system.
· Supervise and mentor biomedical engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and accountability.
· Have an understanding of safety aspects related to environmental conditions and
electrical requirements for medical equipment.
Criteria:
· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering
· Minimum 5–8 years of experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
· Knowledge of safety protocols and biomedical regulations, especially for Laboratory equipment.
· Good problem-solving and communication skills.
· Knowledge of technical aspects of medical equipment and its operation, Knowledge of current regulatory requirements related to patient safety
· Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
