Responsibilities:
CLINICAL
LAB RESPONSIBILITIES:
·
Ensure drafting and implementation of SOP’s,
guidelines, policies etc.
·
Ensure internal and external quality of all
tests
·
Supervises junior medical staff including
assessment of staff performance in relation to clinical competence, adherence
to departmental protocols, timely and accurate documentation, communication
with patients, relatives and peers, other staff and doctors in other hospitals
and in the community.
·
Acquire extensive knowledge of advanced
laboratory theory, techniques, and testing related to Clinical Pathology &
Blood Banking.
·
Supervised reporting of all test performed in
Clinical Laboratory & Blood Bank.
·
Trouble shooting of difficult / discordant
cases.
·
Clinical interaction with patient care service
by providing consultation / advice to clinical.
·
Monitor KPI and data of Clinical laboratory.
·
Participates in departmental and other meetings
required to meet organizational and service objectives.
·
Acquire knowledge of standard laboratory safety
procedures.
·
Perform costing of all tests.
·
Perform feasibility of new tests.
·
Supervises and reports proficiency testing
surveys.
BLOOD
BANK RESPONSIBILITIES:
·
Supervise day to day operations of blood center
such as daily performance of tasks, inventory problems, equipment malfunction
and quality control.
·
Represent the regional blood center and hospital
blood banks in a professional manner.
·
Must interact and communicate well with the
blood bank staff, corporate partners and service partners.
·
Participates in departmental programs for
quality assurance and improvement, identifying opportunities to improve
services. Assure implementation of quality services in Regional Blood Center
and Hospital Blood Banks as per organizational policies and procedures in
consultation with head/team Lead.
·
Supervise duty roster of Lab staff.
·
Deliver training sessions to doctors and
paramedical staff regarding blood bank service/policies, hemovigilance etc.
·
Be a member of “Accreditation Team” and ensure
continued accreditation of the blood center and hospital blood banks.
·
Supervise training and development of blood
center and hospital blood banks staff as specified in accreditation
requirements.
·
Assists in initiating “Hospital Transfusion
Committees” in all connected hospitals. Assuring regular meetings with
implementation of decisions made by the committee.
·
Educate physicians, residents, technologists,
paramedical staff and patients on appropriate use of blood products, blood
group compatibility, blood transfusion processes and other related information.
·
Lead in weekly/ monthly review meetings.
·
Review of technical reports, temperature charts
and date sheets.
·
Assure adequate inventory and compatibility
testing in Hospital Blood Banks with implementation of hemovigilance in HBB’s
and wards.
·
Perform Basic Life Support.
·
In case of non-availability of Medical Officers,
will perform all the tasks as per the JUs of MO’s.
·
Ensure and sign off the important forms and
documents described in the SOP.
·
Ensure that Medical/Transfusion Officers review
and prepare report of Transfusion Reaction and timely delivery of report.
·
Assure timely delivery of blood and blood
products to the HBB’s and then to the patient bedside in the hospitals.
·
Supervise and timely review of all Special
modified product, Procedures and worksheets (washed red cells, neonatal
exchange protocol etc.).
·
Make call to patient’s attendant and ward Staff,
who were dealt in emergency situation without replacement of donor.
·
Monitor expiry of blood product.
·
Managing camps by participating in planning and
layout of blood drive activities with collection team, assisting marketing
department in motivation campaigns and post drives donor counselling sessions.
·
Supervise blood donor collection at blood
drives.
·
To comply with all hospital policies and
procedures in particular those relating to Health and Safety at work.
