Job Description
GENERAL JOB OBJECTIVE:
Responsible for assisting the clinical team in patient management and strict infection control
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To work in close collaboration with all the clinical team to deliver high quality, ethically sound health care services to patient visiting the TB clinic
- Able supervise and train junior staff to deliver high quality, ethically sound health care services to patient visiting the TB clinic
- Assessing a patient’s condition, planning and implementing patient care plans
- To deliver competent and effective clinical nursing skills including;
- Observing and recording patient vital signs
- Ability to record a 12 lead ECG
- Ability to sample from arterial access IV cannulation, IV additives and administration of IV medicines
- To be competent in the administration of medication, including intravenous routes
- Able to demonstrate safe use of patient equipment including infusion devices
- Able to care for patients monitored at the TMU under indirect supervision
- Basic life support & advanced cardiac life support
- Effective wound care
- Assisting physicians in performing procedures
- Ensuring that Ecg machine, defibrillator, monitors and other types of medical equipment function properly
- Ordering diagnostic tests
- Responding to life-saving situations, using nursing standards and protocols for treatment
- Acting as patient advocate
- Providing education and support to patient families
- Follow strict infection control measure and ensures infection control measures are been followed by the clinical, field team and the community.
