The department of Training and Learning follows an adapted design thinking approach in its program
management cycle. The core tasks of the department are to Think, Make, Plan, Market, Deliver, Evaluate, and
Iterate. Each design cycle lasts for 2 months followed by a performance review.
With the Program Manager, the Program Associate will be responsible for all seven stages of the program cycle.
During each cycle, the department focuses on multiple products i.e. training modules. The four categories of the trainings
are:
1. Principles of Community Engagement: A 5-day CEC employee onboarding and refresher core on the principle and
practice of community engagement. Its themes are Individuals and Societies, Social Justice and Health,
Participatory Skills and Tools, Community Engagement and Outreach, and Managing Self and Work. This is iterated
and offered every 3 months. For teams focusing on specific issues, this training is adapted for the program and
outreach teams.
2. e-Health: These are video-based and digital short health-awareness sessions for community health workers. A new
flavor i.e. a new theme is prepared every 3 months.
3. Strengthening Ties through Awareness Raising (STAR): A 3-day training on complex and prevalent socio-medical
concerns for primary-care workers. A new flavor of STAR is designed and delivered every 4 months.
4. Professional Development: Short workshops for GHD and IRD employees on enhancing and building on
professional skills such as conflict resolution, cooperative problem solving, inter-personal communication, and
strengthening diversity and inclusions. The trainings are repeated or released in a new flavor every 3 months,
based on evaluation findings.
