Work in close collaboration with the PMDT clinical team and endTB clinical trial (endTB and endTB-Q)
team to deliver high quality, ethically sound health care services to DR tuberculosis patients enrolled in
PMDT and all Clinical trials; in particular, for those enrolled on new TB drugs, with cardiac pathology.
2. To promptly provide ECG interpretation and reporting shared by the PMDT doctors and endTB Clinical
Trial team.
3. To develop a mechanism for formal documentation of the ECG reports (to be included in patient files).
4. To provide medical advice (in terms of TB treatment, further management, and required lab
investigations) in case of abnormal ECG results.
5. To conduct clinical site visits (Indus / DMC) approximately twice a month (or as required) for reviewing
and discussing patients with cardiac problems who have been identified by the TB clinical teams
6. To provide training on ECG reading and interpretation to relevant team members. This should aim for TB
clinicians to become independent at interpreting ECGs, particularly at calculating the QTcF interval.
7. To lead cardiac advice and consultation for both Clinical Trials (endTB and endTB-Q) at two Site PK-1 in
Karachi and PK-2 in Kotri.
8. To support PMDT clinical team based in Karachi and Non Karachi Sites - including Kotri, Hyderabad,
Quetta, Sukkhar & Larkana & EndTB Clinical Trial Teams in evaluation of patients cardiac status and
provide cardiac advice alongside coordinating referrals for patients who need surgical cardiac intervention
at other cardiac institutes or under other cardiologist care due to patients close proximity of those facilities.
