Job Description
- Ensure all nursing staff supervised to comply with the policies and procedures established by IHHN; monitor staff discipline including uniforms, attendance and punctuality and overall performance
- Periodically review department’s policies, procedures, job descriptions etc. and recommend revisions as required.
- Monitor consumption of medication and general store.
- Assign staff duties, make nursing staff duty roster, utilize present pool of staff in order to avoid necessary staff overtime.
- Counsel and guide all nursing staff.
- Round regularly; escort special visitors on hospital rounds.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure the efficient working of the wards (maintenance, billing, etc.).
- Ensure proper hand over of patients (bed to bed) and ward inventory in every shift. Conduct random checks and report discrepancies to the management.
- Review reports from the Nursing Shift Incharge of the evening and night shifts; report all incidents to the management.
- Keep the Nursing Manager informed of any special needs of the ward under his / her charge.
- Supervise day-to-day nursing activities of the nursing staff in accordance with current guidelines and regulations of IHHN
- Continually observes the general condition of patients; supervises bed-to-bed patients of staff.
- Monitor patients and ensure proper documentation is maintained and recorded on the system
- Maintain inventories and make indents.
- Monitor the proper functioning of biomedical equipment and availability of supplies.
- Coordinate and communicate with consultants or medical officers related to patient care issues.
- Perform all tasks of staff at times of shortage of resources and in emergency situations.
