Job Description

 JOB SUMMARY:

The Team Lead is responsible for the planning, organization and implementation of nursing care activities as according to The Indus Hospital’s policies and service needs.

 TASKS & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Ensure all nursing staff supervised comply with the policies and procedures established by TIH; monitor staff discipline including uniforms, attendance and punctuality and overall performance.
  • Periodically review department’s policies, procedures, job descriptions etc. and recommend revisions as required.
  • Report incidents to senior management as necessary.
  • Monitor consumption of medication and general store.
  • Assign staff duties, make nursing staff duty roster, utilize present pool of staff in order to avoid necessary staff overtime.
  • Implement the Ward Teaching Program (CBO) for the nursing staff in coordination with Nursing Education Services; participate in clinical teaching and staff development of nursing staff.
  • Counsel and guide all nursing staff.
  • Round regularly; escort special visitors on hospital rounds.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure the efficient working of the wards (maintenance, billing, etc.).
  • Ensure proper hand over of patients (bed to bed) and ward inventory in every shift. Conduct random checks and report discrepancies to the management.
  • Review reports from the Nursing Shift Incharge of the evening and night shifts; report all incidents to the management.
  • Keep the Nursing Manager informed of any special needs of the ward under his / her charge.
  • Supervise day-to-day nursing activities of the nursing staff in accordance with current guidelines and regulations of TIH
  • Continually observes the general condition of patients; supervises bed-to-bed patients of staff.
  • Monitor patients and ensure proper documentation is maintained and recorded on the system.
  • Monitor staff to perform the following tasks:
    • Hygiene care (AM care, PM care, position charge)
    • Administration of medication
    • Taking and documenting vital signs
    • Maintaining I.O. charts
    • Investigation
    • I/V line and canulla care
    • Dressing wounds
  • Maintain inventories and make indents.
  • Monitor the proper functioning of biomedical equipment and availability of supplies.
  • Coordinate and communicate with consultants or medical officers related to patient care issues.
  • Perform all tasks of staff at times of shortage of resources and in emergency situations.
  • Perform all tasks assigned by the supervisor / head of department.
