Job Description
The Medical Technician is responsible for assisting Staff Nurses and CCTs, ensuring patients are handled tactfully and with courtesy. Must show helpful attitude towards attendants and families at all times.
- Ensure beds are prepared, linens are changed for new patients.
- Provide patients’ personal hygiene by giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos and shaves; assist with travel to the bathroom; assist with showers and baths.
- Assist in serving meals and feeding patients as necessary (ambulating, turning and ensuring patients are in the appropriate position).
- Provide adjunct care by applying non sterile dressings, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatment, and therapeutic baths, applying restraints.
- Check danger box and close it by labeling when it is filled 1/3.
- Maintain patient stability by vital signs and weight; testing urine; recording intake and output information.
- Provide patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients answering patients’ calls and requests; reporting observations of the patient to Team leader/ Ward incharge/ nursing Coordinator.
- Maintain work operations by following policies and procedures.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, participating in professional organizations and maintaining licensure.
- Enhance nursing department and hospital reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Ensure that nursing practices are in line with institutional policies.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor / Head of Department.
